Who We Are
The Association of Anambra State Development Unions, hereinafter called AASDU is an umbrella body for all Anambra towns, trades and professional unions based in Lagos, Nigeria .
AASDU was established in March 1988, and was registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission in 1995. Membership of AASDU therefore consists of the aforementioned bodies whose accredited representatives form the AASDU Governing Council. Aside from our highly credible Board of Trustees, every sitting governor of Anambra State is constitutionally recognised during their tenure as AASDU Grand Patron. To this effect, the Anambra State Liaison Officer here in Lagos represents the Governor in our council meetings.

Anambra State:
Here’s a brief history of Anambra State in Nigeria.
- 9th century AD: The earliest signs of civilization in Anambra State can be traced back to this century, with archaeological findings in Igbo-Ukwu and Ezira revealing sophisticated administrative systems and great works of art.
- 19th century: Great Britain recognized traditional kings and leaders in Anambra State and appointed noble leaders as Warrant Chiefs.
- 1967-1970: Anambra State was part of the secessionist Republic of Biafra, formed by Igbo nationalists, during the Nigerian Civil War.
- 1976: The state was formed from part of East Central State, with Enugu as its capital.
- 1991: On August 27, the state was reorganized, and Enugu became a separate state, with Awka as the capital of the new Anambra State.
